American Girls: 1774-1944 by Acaciathorn American Girls: 1774-1944 by Acaciathorn
Presenting...The American Girls Collection! Featuring all seven of the "historical" dolls whose series follow the traditional six book format (Double click for full-view).

In chronological order, from left to right:
1) Felicity Merriman, 1774, wearing her blue party dress from "Felicity's Surprise".
2) Josefina Montoya, 1824, wearing her outfit from "Meet Josefina".
3) Kirsten Larsen, 1854, in her blue prairie dress from "Meet Kirsten".
4) Addy Walker, 1864, sporting her yellow strawberry dress from "Addy Saves the Day".
5) Samantha Parkington, 1904, in her sailor outfit from "Samantha Saves the Day".
6) Kit Kittredge, 1934, in her clothes from "Meet Kit".
7) Molly McIntyre, 1944, wearing her school uniform from "Molly Learns a Lesson".

These books instilled in me a love of history that has stayed with me all my life. The first story I ever wrote on paper was my own "American Girl" book, and I'll always be grateful to the series for encouraging girls everywhere to think about their heritage and expand their creativity.

Tell me who your fave character is! :#1:

I have the Samantha doll, and I love collecting the mini dolls!
I can't believe I found someone who drew them! Molly has got to be the best one you drew
she looks just like how she does in the books I love it! I can't imagine how complicated drawing Felicity's dress must've been! It's beautiful! I see you added an American flag pattern in the back.
Nice touch. :D

Hi, I ran across this in doing a Google image search...awesome work!! The reason I was searching is because I am going to start a local Facebook group for buying, selling, and trading Pleasant Company and American Girl dolls and stuff, and I want an awesome banner image for the group. Would you mind if I used this as the group's banner? I totally understand if not, just thought I'd ask and didn't want to do it without permission. :)

My teacher, Mary Margaret Campbell, told me to read her Phonics Practice Reader books instead of the 1864 American Girl books due to the reason that Roosevelt removed a page from one of the books (probably, I think it was book #1 in the American Girls Collection: 1864). But I refused and took the book back to Helen Hall Library to become "DISCARDED" by the librarian after she taped the removed page back together. I chose Chrissa and not the african-american girl. My American Girl collection: Chrissa, Julie, Kit, McKenna, Saige and Samantha. I'll try to get the remaining American Girls: Felicity, Isabelle, Josefina, Kirsten and Molly. That makes 11 American Girls. I have 3 American Girls DVDs (Chrissa Stands Strong, McKenna Shoots for the Stars and Samantha: An American Girl Holiday), 3 American Girls video games (The American Girls Premiere, Julie Finds a Way - DS and Julie Saves the Eagles - Windows only game), 2 American Girls Blu-ray Discs (Kit Kittredge: An American Girl and Saige Paints the Sky) and 2 American Girls books (Meet Felicity and Meet Samantha but lost Happy Birthday, Samantha and Molly Saves the Day). FOLLOW MY INNER STAR! AMERICAN GIRL ALL THE WAY! American Girl is often considered a homeschool book series, compared to the BOB books published by Scholastic who retained/licensed the rights to the entire collection from Mattel, Inc.

This is just beautiful!  It's my girls!  Look at my Sammy, she's just adorable!  I may not have owned the other girls, but I absolutely grew up with them.  I got Sam back when there were only three girls and the craftsmanship was excellent.  They even sent a real 1904 Buffalo head nickle.  You did such a lovely job.  Gets me all nostalgic.

I remember some of these! When I was very little, I read and collected the Felicity books with my father. That is such a fond memory. It really is sad that these are no longer produced. We need some way to get kids to like history. The modern "American Girls" just aren't that interesting. Why are they (apparently) more popular?

I think the AG company cares more about selling dolls and accessories these days than it does about bringing history alive.

That's a shame. It does seem that the modern girls bring in more money than the historical ones, but why? Maybe girls feel that they can relate to the modern ones, but the historical ones are so interesting.

I love them all! it's so sad to know that most of the wonderfull girl's are discontinued, all their history is gone from the american girl website, they don't make the doll's or merchendice anymore, it's as if they took out a family and just decided they should be forgotten forever...all these girl's tought me so much! this is such an amazing work of art! i love it!
