Animerican Girl: Kirsten by Acaciathorn Animerican Girl: Kirsten by Acaciathorn
"Kirsten Larson is a pioneer girl of strength and spirit growing up in Minnesota in 1854."

I don't know about you, but I was a huge fan of the American Girls book series when I was growing up, and Kirsten was always my favorite. Not only is her design just...AWESOME, but her stories really showcased her resilience and creative response to hardship.
For my 11th birthday, my Mom bought me Kirsten's blue dress from the American Girl catalog, and to this day it remains the most loved piece of clothing I've ever owned. (and yes, I know it's gingham and has little red flowers on it, but I didn't add them to this pic because they just didn't work with the composition).

Anyway, since it's sort of anime-ish style, I made the title a play on words, combining anime and American to get "Animerican Girl". Hope you guys like it! I'm especially proud of her basket :D

Oh, and if you've read the series, tell me who your favorite girl is! :#1: Maybe I'll draw her!

Kristen is my third fav from the series. I could relate to her trying to adjust to a new life in the US cause I moved around a lot including three times in one state and twice in the state I now live in so I had readjust everything, try to make new friends and all that stuff. Out of all the friendships in the series I've liked her and Singing Bird's the most cause it showed to not judge another person just cause they look different and do things differently.

My mom had her and I had Samantha. We used to play with them when I was a little girl. Her hair was a pain though so we had to be really careful not to mess it up. Maybe you should do the American Girl's best friends too; they even made dolls of them to keep them company. I've been dispointed with American Girls lately. They're too focused on the modern dolls and have even started making baby dolls. I always thought what made the company special was the historical doll collection. Anyone can make dolls like that but it takes a lot of work and research to make the historical ones acurate.

Oh my gosh, she's my favorite, too! I've got the doll! And I can do her hair better than the people whose job it was to do her hair! It's so sad they retired her without ever even making a movie. :( I guess people just weren't as interested in her. When I was seven I thought I might meet an Indian girl like she did. I didn't know they'd all been forced onto reservations.

So have you been to american girl website/store lately? They discontinued Felicity, Kristen, and Samatha. I bet the only reasons Addy and Josefina are still around is because they are racial dolls. :P losers
