"All the days of my week I write the name I dare not speak Of the boy with the cornflower hair My beloved, and my despair...
That's a keeper!"
Helga Pataki, crappily (but lovingly) drawn in the wee hours of the night. That damn football head pops up everywhere she looks, even in the bright lights in the city sky
Helga is, without a doubt, my absolute favorite cartoon character of all time. She is a mishmash of delightfully human paradoxes, with a level of depth and duality rarely seen from a kids’ show.
She is simultaneously a bully and a saboteur, a tortured antagonist and a tragic heroine, a comedian and a deeply insightful poet. She’s destructive and cruel, creative and witty, wise beyond her years and yet damagingly immature. She’s vulnerable and insecure and hurts the people around her in her misguided search for love and acceptance, and yet somehow manages to be one of the most intelligent, relatable, and lovable characters in the series.
I think that we can all see a little bit of ourselves in Helga. Whether we identify with her crummy home life, her inability to make sense of herself, her desperate and unrequited love, or just with the challenges of growing up, she represents many of the struggles that all of us face. I only hope that I can come out of them with half her class.

And yet another emotionally powerful picture. Great job on this one! I love how on her arm it says "My Despair" , once again a great, powerful, picture this is.
