Obscure Fandoms: Nefertina from Mummies Alive by Acaciathorn Obscure Fandoms: Nefertina from Mummies Alive by Acaciathorn
This here is Nefertina from Mummies Alive, a 90s cartoon chock-full of historical inaccuracies and bad Egyptian puns. :XD: I remember pretty much nothing about this show...but my internet research has indicated that it was on around the same time as Gargoyles, which I remember in vivid detail :o ...not sure what that says about the quality of "Mummies Alive" ^^;

But yeah. This undead lady has a badass design, so I drew her. I'm satisfied with everything but the hair (it's supposed to look dry and tomb-tousled, but I think it came out like a mop)...I tried to make her skin look splotchy cause hey, she's been dead for thousands of years. Hooray!

This is the third installment of the Obscure/Underloved/Atypical Fandoms Series - which will feature characters that I've never drawn before and who come from fandoms that are lesser-known or not as popular here on dA. P.S. Anatomy issues are due to the fact that she's literally falling apart due to decomposition, and not due to the fact that my artistic abilities still leave a lot to be desired. ;P

I like this a lot
What's up with her skin, anyway?  Is she sweating or something?

decomposing, actually. Seeing as, you now, she's a mummy

Was actually a pretty good series, it didn't get as many seasons as gargoyles I believe, and the story was never fully resolved. I thought the character designs for the show were in some ways more original then gargoyles, which I liked better, it was a nice mix of modern tech with a sense of the ancient eqyptiness.
Anyway lovely work ^_^

I think it's very interesting and great that you are drawing from obscure fandoms! They need more love! :D I don't know any of them though, but they look great! I think her skin looks more sparkly than splotchy ... don't kill me!
the bits of writing on her upper thighs are really cool. What a great touch!

It's cuneiform...a written language from Mesopotamia and the "lingua franca" of the whole region around Egypt and the Levant.
